As of today there is 348 days to go until I run the Brighton Marathon 2020 for Cancer Research UK in memory of my Grandad (my Mum’s Dad) and my Granny (my Dad’s Mum). Having completed the London Marathon in 2018 I learnt a lot, firstly I definitely need to ut the hours and effort in to training. So since I signed up to do the Brighton Marathon on the 28th April I have spent a lot of time researching different training plans and then using those to build my own training plan to cover the period between now and the day of the marathon.
One of the things I am keen to do is build up my core strength so I have downloaded an app from the google playstore called ‘Plank Workout’ which has 30 day training plans to complete. I started this on the 1st of May and am doing well at sticking to this before bed.
Whilst I have a couple of holidays coming up one of which starts in just under 2 weeks and the other is at the end of June, I have decided to use these first few months making use of the gym to build up my fitness and also try and lose a bit of weight before getting stuck in to the ‘real’ running aspect of the marathon training.
I am also definitely going to have to really look into my eating habits and the nutrition side of things before but again this is going to have to wait until after I come back from my second holiday.
