I have been picking up and putting this book down for over a year! In all honesty it took me a while to get into it but I am glad I didn’t give up on it.

I have never really been overly interested in politics but I think it is hard to ignore the impact the Obama family had when Barack Obama became the 44th President of America. I loved the way the family would portray themselves.

Whilst it did take me a while to get into the book, I did actually enjoy this autobiography and by the end I felt as though I got to see a different side of Michelle Obama. It is great to read how the smaller things can make a big impact, how people in powerful positions also crave some kind of normality that we often take for granted.

It is also quite inspirational to see a kind ordinary person end up in quite an extraordinary position where she is able to make an impact on people’s lives and inspire them to try and achieve things they wouldn’t think is possible.

I quite liked how the book is divided into three sections ‘Becoming Me’, ‘Becoming Us’, and ‘Becoming More’. As this breaks down the major events but also keeps things moving forward where as sometimes in some autobiographies they can go off on a tangent.

I would recommend this autobiography although you may need to give it a bit of a chance to get into it.
